Wow. I never write here, haha.
Well, last semester at CSULB, whether I like it or not. Things have certainly been busy.
I will update here sporadically, but I most likely will post things to my blog instead.

Spring Cleaning

I just went through my gallery and dumped a bunch of old work into my scrapbook - actually, some of them were so bad that I deleted them.
So, now instead of having 11 pages of work - it's down to 8! I think.
I've been sketching a lot more lately - I don't draw everyday like I used to, but at least I get some work in here and there. One of my goals this year to learn how to paint on the computer. I hope that I can achieve it.
Anyhow, now that I figured out how to properly work my scanner, I scanned in a bunch of old stuff from my brown sketchbook (I LOVE that sketch book). Once I had scanned in the pictures, I realized that I make the heads consistently too large for the rest of the body. Huh - funny how I can only see that now.
So, now instead of having 11 pages of work - it's down to 8! I think.

Just another one passes by

Well! 2009 is already here!
After enjoying a wonderful Christmas vacation, a great trip up north to celebrate New Years with my family and best friend, and a lengthy winter break, I'm back in Spring Session at CSULB. I just finished my first week, and things are looking pretty good so far. I like all my classes, and my professors are all ridiculously nice - I was completely thrown off guard, haha. For example, one professor gave us a bag of M&M's for each timeline question we answered correctly, since our class was during the "sleepy" or "nappy" time of the day (right after lunch). He's a kooky old guy, and I think he's amazing. Another professor of mine is probably one of the happiest Japanese professors I've EVER had. Really. She's so smiley and nice that I just sort of stare at her in amazement. I'm not saying that Japanese professors are horrible people, it's just I've never run across one who was so sunny before, lol.
As for my schedule, I'm taking a little bit easier than last semester - no more plowing through tons of essays. I literally had 10 - 15 papers due each month, no joke. It was insane, ridiculous, and really highlights my masochistic attitude I have towards school. My only art class was painting, and that was a completely humbling experience. I had fun, but the learning curve was pretty high, that's for sure.
SO! Now, this semester, I have 3 studio classes, 1 Japanese class (intermediate), and 1 Asian Studies Special Topics course. I'm finally in a drawing class again, which I'm really happy about. It's a human anatomy class, and I really like my professor's teaching methods already. Granted, it's a 6 hour class on Friday, but it's still worthwhile in my opinion.
Enough about school. Anyhow, I wanted to pass on my greetings to everyone here on D.A. Thanks to the wonderful and inspiring artists that post their works, I am all the more driven to try and achieve my goals. Happy 2009!

A new wave of thoughts

Hello once again.
Well, things have changed quite a bit since I last wrote. I say this every time, since I don't really bother to update my deviantart account too often. Which is a shame - I should, but then I see all this great work from everyone else, and then I feel small and pitiful, lol.
So, onto the new points of my current life:
I'm currently going to Cal State Long Beach as a Studio Art Major, with an option in Illustration/Animation. I'm trying to get into the BFA program, so hopefully, if I can get my act together and toughen up my guts, I'll be able to break into that.
I'm taking 18 units, and it has been officially whooping my arse all around. I can't seem to get into the rhythm of school like I'm used to doing. I suppose it's because it's the new campus, new professors, and new system to get used to. It's already been the third week, going on forth though - I really need to get it together...
As for other things, I still do a lot of sketch work (manga style), and I've discovered that doing pen sketches on brown paper is wickedly fun. It really just sorta takes off on it's own
